Vaccinations

Urgent advice: Measles, Mumps, Rubella Vaccination

Cases of measles are on the rise in England and there is a growing public health risk.  This has been declared a national incident.

You can read the most uptodate advice and guidance regarding this here.  If you’ve not had the 2 doses of the MMR vaccination then full details are provided on where to get vaccinated.

If you have symptoms of measles stay at home and phone your GP or NHS 111.

Please DO NOT attend the surgery or A&E without informing them that you think you have measles before your visit – you could spread the illness to others.

We offer all the standard vaccinations at the surgery. You can find information about most vaccinations on the NHS website, but we have included information about some of the vaccinations we provide below.

Flu Vaccinations

Most eligible adults will be able to get the flu vaccine from 3 October 2024. This may be later than you've had the vaccine before, but it means you'll have the best protection when flu is most widespread.

You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:

  • are aged 65 or over
  • have certain long-term health conditions
  • are pregnant
  • live in a care home
  • are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer's allowance
  • live with someone who has a weakened immune system

To book:

  • phone us on 0161 383 9975, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm

RSV Vaccinations

The RSV vaccination is a new vaccination to help protect against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). RSV is a common cause of coughs and colds. Most people get it several times in their life.

Vaccination is recommended for those who are pregnant (from 28 weeks onwards) or aged 75 to 79. Please note that if you have turned 80 after 1 September 2024, you are eligible for vaccination until 31 Aug 2025.

If you would like to be vaccinated, please call 0161 383 9975 and speak to a member of our reception team, or ask at the desk. You can find out more about the RSV vaccination on the NHS page for RSV vaccine.

COVID Vaccinations

We have several COVID vaccination clinics planned for October and will likely be doing a few more in November and December. Vaccinations are also being carried out on our behalf by our Primary Care Network (PCN) Pharmacists.

You can check your eligibility at the NHS page for COVID-19 vaccine.

If you would like your COVID vaccination, please enquire at the front desk. If you are booked in for another appointment, we may be able to vaccinate you during that appointment.

Do I Need To Be Protected Against Pneumococcal Infection?

Everybody aged 65 and over should now be immunised to help protect them against pneumococcal infection which can cause diseases such as pneumonia, septicaemia (blood poisoning) and meningitis. Please phone the surgery during September to make an appointment if the above applies to you.
