Preparing the NHS for the potential impact of the Omicron variant and other winter pressures
As you will no doubt be aware, the Prime Minister has urgently announced a new vaccination objective which will see the NHS deliver more vaccines over the coming weeks than ever before. We have been doing COVID vaccinations at the surgery, but in order to facilitate the new objective we will need to redeploy staff (GPs, nurses and admin) and alter our activities.
- We will continue to run COVID vaccination clinics at both the Junction and Alkrington Surgeries. If you need a COVID vaccination, please contact us to book in. We are receiving Pfizer only, but will be able to do 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or Booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
- There are numerous walk in clinics for COVID vaccinations in Rochdale. Information can be found here.
- We have flu vaccinations in stock, so if you want your flu vaccination, please ask and we will try and get you booked in. This can be done at the same time as the COVID vaccination, though may not always be possible depending on the type of clinic.
- We are redeploying GPs, nurses and some admin staff to facilitate the delivery of this COVID vaccination programme. This will mean that some of the planned reviews for long term conditions may need to be cancelled and re-arranged in January. We will continue to do investigations such as bloods and ECGs but will be prioritising patients where these investigations are required urgently. We may ask you to submit information via other methods such as email or PATCHS and appreciate this may not always be as simple as attending the surgery. Most of our staffs duties will continue alongside this additional demand, and therefore we ask for your patience. All on the day and urgent care at the practice will continue and you should continue to make contact if you need us. If in doubt, just ask.
